Tegan and John are getting married!
** IMPORTANT COVID19 UPDATE: due to the pandemic we are POSTPONING our wedding. We aren’t yet considering new dates as the virus situation becomes better understood we will start to evaluate and will notify you of the new date. We plan to give everyone at least 6 months advance notice.
We are having a party! Everyone is welcome. No invitation necessary – all of the plusses allowed (plus 1, plus 0, plus 5…. YOU are the important part).
Attendance: Come when you like and for what you like (no RSVP required)! We’ll have a public pinky-promise on the River at 2 pm… but there won’t be anything formal. We’ll have a few hours for dinner on your own… there is so much to enjoy about Memphis we want to let you have a meal you’ll love. Then the Zoo Party starts at 7!
Attention: We hope (and ask) that everyone makes friends, connects, and shares resources like Ubers via our IG page @teganandjohn. The party and events are totally gramable. We have a hashtag and live screen to see what’s been happening across the Zambezi Venue!
Attire: No dress code but John and Tegan will be fancy. Dress up or dress down – the choice is up to you! We just want you be comfortable and have a great time Bare in mind it’s Memphis in September and some of the festivities are outside.
Known for humane treatment and the only place that I40 doesn’t go straight through, the Memphis Zoo has two animals that stay up at night: the hippos and crocodiles will be partying with us at the Zambezi. With fire and water features, along with a setting that reminds Tegan of her early years in Kenya… its the perfect location to party with our favs. For a 3D glimpse check out this link.
The Dance floor will be outdoors! Music and celebrating will be on the Patio with the Zambezi River – hippos and crocs – surrounding
Inside will be an open bar, sweets and treats, a screen with live feed, and a spot for pics.
Upstairs we’ll have areas to play Flip Cup and socialize. We’ll have a kids corner in the early hours here too!
We plan on meeting at the River for a public pinky-promise to each other. We’d love anyone to join who’d like to but there won’t be any seats or programs. Just our friends and family standing with us as we promise to be together till death does us part. Dinner on your own! There are so many awesome cuisine options in Memphis we wanted to let you pick!
We’ll be doing a hand fasting to symbolize our union. We are so excited to have Natalie Trent perform the ceremony.
No chairs or songs/sermons. We’ll have our flower girls, our own vows and some seeds to throw at the end.
After vows and a little family time we are headed to the Zoo for the party! The entire event is meant to be an informal (but we are still going to dress-up) party and time to see our closest family and friends. Feel free to come and go as you please!
Be there if you want to cheers with us at 7:30! We’ll have some snacks, sweets, open bar, activities, and a dance floor!
The send-off before midnight will be just for show. Be prepared for an after party!
